I've Been A Bad Dolly

Since I've worked at the pharmacy I've been a very bad Dolly when it comes to packing lunches. I used to be such a great lunch packer. Why is that?

Previously everywhere I've worked did not allow me the option of buying a lunch. I basically had to bring one or starve. It really motivated me to be on top of having food at home that would pack easily. Now... I never make the extra effort and its costing me big time!

Its been eating away at me how much I've been spending on food. At a time where I'm deciding to take hold of my health and finances I'm ruining it all by eating out every day. I'm going to be honest, I am spending more than just lunch money. I also usually by a smoothie in the morning, and some snacks at work. This is on top of buying lunch. I don't even want to guesstimate the amount I spend monthly. I know I should and stop putting blinders on but I'm so angry at myself.

Part of it is an attachment to the people working where I buy these things. I love the food court ladies and I'm sure they love me and the dollar signs above my head. I've worked in this particular mall a few times in the past so I know other workers very well and I like the social interaction.

Another big part is laziness, and being unprepared. Oh, and then there's the fact that work is stressful and sometimes I just want to get the F out of there and relax. Sometimes I even eat before work because I was rushed getting out the door and the bus causes me to be a half hour early.

Things have got to change. I'm wasting money in a big way at a fast rate. This is going to be one of my goals for February. It's time to get back on track.

This is SO me too... Even when I DO pack a lunch, I'm disinterested in it that I end up buying another lunch or a snack. Or I get lazy to make coffee at work and end up buying one at tim Horton's or something like that. Good luck for February!

I take public transit to my current job and there really aren't very many places to eat that are within walking distance, so I pretty much have to bring my lunch if I want to have something to eat. I guess that's a good thing, healthier choices, saving money and all that. It was tricky to always have something prepared to bring when I first started, but now that I'm in the habit of it, it's not that big of a deal. Maybe you could make certain things (soups/stews, chilli, pasta) in big portions and then freeze them into individual portions, easy to bring with you to work if you don't have anything prepared.

My one downfall here is the vending machine though, all those yummy chocolate bars constantly calling my name!

Just think about how much money you could put towards your Aussie fund if you did packed lunches and snacks! It adds up. I know I get lazy and sometimes "forget" my lunch...

I sometimes just want to leave my office during my break. I totally know how you feel.

Getting out of work is a huge draw but the one asset you have is a food court - it's hard to find indoors places to eat a packed lunch but a food court is a perfect place. I'll admit though, it's so hard to stay organized with this.

How about taking part in Krystal's grocery and eating out challenge? I'm planning to do it, as soon as I total up what I spent last month on food.

C-The Asian Pear- I get disinterested too. I'll have to find a way to make my packed lunch more fun. :)

So Very Fabulous- I take public transportation as well but unfortunately I work in an area with lots of places to choose from for eating out.

Bouncing Back- You are right. That is my thought too. I have been such a slacker and its only hurting me and my goals in the long run. That's why I need to address it right away.

Chicky- Don't we all? Even when I bring a lunch and I sit in the back of the pharmacy and say "Don't bug me" people still do. It's rather annoying.

Saver Queen - I would never eat my lunch in the food court. I know everyone of the vendors and all the mall staff very well. It would be awkward. Once its sunny out again I will go outside I think.

Shevy- I'm not really into Krystal's challenges but thanks for the suggestion. I'm going to set up a different goal for myself and my bad habit. ;)
